Restrictive nutrition and compensatory growth of broilers: Impact on growth production results and carcass characteristics

Abstract Increase in growth rate through genetic selection and improved nutrition broiler chickens has been associated with high body fat deposition. This is particularly evident under ad libitum feeding that normally practiced. Excessive deposition the of broilers a common problem for poultry producers consumers. Studies have shown feed restriction could decrease content increase protein carcasses, thus resulting their composition. In addition to determining optimal time start duration restrictive nutrition, success given programs largely depends on intensity restriction, as well type applied technique. Considering large number studies, application resulted reduction broilers, but at same desired weight was not achieved slaughter (market) age, these should be priori rejected ineffective. It necessary determine whether market price obtained product (poultry meat) its reduced justifies lower end fattening period.
